As Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the current and future state architecture and strategy of Big data engineering solutions. The individual will bring in thought leadership in specifying technical solutions and leading and delivering change while providing support & expertise in Business Intelligence & Analytics tools.
As the Senior Data Engineer, you will:
Provide technical thought leadership on High Level Architecture and Design, data modeling, Big Data strategy & adoption for Analytics Applications
Own the integrated ELT strategy and architecture for structured and unstructured data spanning multiple business units and identify downstream implications of data loads / migration
Deep understanding of data warehousing principles and processes including data modeling, logical and physical database design, transformation and loading
Design, profile, develop, and test data engineering solutions using multiple ETL / MDM tools that move data from disparate source / target systems and the enterprise information repositories
Demonstrate proficiency with data modeling concepts and tools (e.g., ERWin, ER Studio, etc.) to model and implement data access layers for reporting, data discovery, metadata management, and data services
Maintain data architectural artifacts and ensures that all measures for data quality, data profiling, data governance, ITIL, security and compliance of data are adhered to
Perform variety of in-depth data analysis, data modeling, and data design tasks on complicated datasets with potentially complex data integration scenarios
Proficient in SQL and ETL processes, ETL and DB performance tuning, table partitioning, shell scripting
Work with Product Owners, and Business SME to identify requirements and drive ingestions standards consistent with business processes
Exhibit strong knowledge of business processes and integrate domain data knowledge into development of data requirements
Participate in vendor customer advisory boards and steers direction of visualization platforms to meet GE needs
Interact with executive management in the architecture and use of visualization platforms
Bachelor's Degree from accredited university or college in Business, Information Systems, Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technology leader designing and developing data modeling with a minimum of 3 of those years specializing in big data architecture or data analytics
Minimum of 5 years of experience & extensive knowledge of SQL and using data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlikview, Business Objects or similar technologies)
Please Note: Preferred location is Atlanta, GA, will consider Cary, NC
Strong expertise in working with SAP ERP & SAP BW data (Sales & Distribution, Production planning, Material management, FICO)
Deep understanding of Big data technologies, RDBMS, Data Integration (ETL, EAI), Data Replication, Data and Process modeling in an Oracle / Greenplum / Hadoop Big Data environment
Demonstrated expertise with tools like HVR, Talend, Informatica, big data, streaming, IOT, flat file, JSON, API, and many other data sources
Extensive knowledge of data preparation, data governance & data catalog tools (Alteryx, Colibra, Alation etc.)
Ability to see the big picture with a demonstration of strong business acumen
Ensure all assigned projects or changes follow the appropriate process / methodology and remain within Change governance
Keep up to date on Business Intelligence / Analytics toolsets & trends
Demonstrated skill in the use of analytic software tools or languages (e.g. Python, R, SAS)
PMP or Scrum certified
Demonstrated skill in critical thinking and problem solving methods
Uses appropriate facilitation techniques to gain agreement or move others to action
Ability to work successfully in a global team environment
