Outsourcing professionals work on projects across a range of business processes, business applications and information technology. The Position:

Accenture is seeking a collaborative and results-oriented Senior Director of Energy Strategy and research with expertise in a wide range of Energy service categories to work with Fortune 500 clients to develop and execute services, sourcing strategies, develop sourcing and procurement solutions that are designed to drive spend and savings, and incorporate vendor management metrics that’ll support our client’s goals while achieving optimal pricing, quality and service levels. The Senior Director of Strategy and Research is an individual who is generally familiar with the electric and gas utility industry, and who has an intimate knowledge of regulation with a particular emphasis on how rates are developed in the context of utility rate cases.

Duties consist of the following:

  • Canvass utility rate cases to become aware of client savings opportunities from new rates as well as from changes to legacy rates and tariffs. Specific potential client savings figures from these developments are to be developed.

  • Review prospective client data to discern potential savings opportunities related to rate optimization, participation in utility riders, tax savings and opting-out from utility programs.

  • Ongoing reviews of existing clients to uncover fresh savings opportunities resulting from the additions of new accounts and changes in the consumption characteristics of legacy accounts.

  • Use cost-of-service and rate design principles to realize savings for clients in negotiation situations (e.g., customer sponsored rates and special contracts).

  • Provide consulting activities and associated documents to clients who desire an enhanced understanding of their rate situations and potential opportunities for expenditure mitigation.

  • Provide projections of rate changes, which will be used as inputs for the development of utility expenditure forecasts for clients.

  • Provide leadership to development of data and analytic tools around utilities and tariffs

  • Present findings during client facing meetings and provide internal project leadership for selected clients.

  • Participate in discussions with existing and prospective clients as needed.

  • Special projects as required (e.g., the preparation and defense of expert testimony in rate cases).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive and manage analytical efforts in areas specific to business function and industry focus

  • Negotiate agreement with supplier and incorporate best practice metrics for agreements to aid the Category Management process in SRM activities; (May be responsible for contracting negotiated agreement)

  • Pursue and develop senior level stakeholder relationships at priority accounts; support account stakeholder relationship plans

The Opportunity:

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in consulting, sourcing/procurement/supply chain management function

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with utility ratemaking and regulation

  • Minimum of 5 years in the field of Energy related procurement or delivery from the supplier side

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Business Administration

  • Deep knowledge of multiple sub-categories within Energy

  • Minimum of 1 year of project management experience in a corporate and/or professional services environment

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires travel of approximately 10% to multiple customer locations
