Barrios Technology presently works as the prime contractor for the Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract along with four subcontractor companies to provide support to International Space Station activities at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

  • Teledyne Brown Engineering on the Mission Operations and Integration (MOI) contract at Marshall Space Flight Center (Huntsville, AL)

  • COLSA Corporation on the Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) contract at Marshall Space Flight Center (Huntsville, AL)

  • Rothe Development, Inc. on the Joint Operations, Integrated Systems Technology (JOIST) Contract (Baseline B) and multiple-award, indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract segment.

  • Booz Allen Hamilton on the Joint Operations, Integrated Systems Technology (JOIST) multiple-award, indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract segment.

Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Data Management Specialist on the Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

The MAPI contract provides program support related to strategic and tactical planning, engineering analysis, manifest development and hardware certification, safety and mission assurance, risk management, information technology, payload integration, program science and research. This includes support of mission and program integration and necessary infrastructure operations functions for the International Space Station (ISS).

MAPI also provides support to NASA’s Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) program. We deliver products and professional services to the Program Planning and Control Office, systems engineering and integration services to the Vehicle Integration Office and Crew and Service Module Office, and to the test and verification activities for multiple Orion Offices for the design of NASA’s Orion Exploration Vehicle.

The Data Management Specialist will:

  • Support NASA’s International Space Station (ISS) and Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) programs by implementing Data Management and Integration (DMI) processes and procedures.

  • Be responsible for the scheduling, status, and processing of documentation, deliverables, and data items.

  • Perform metadata management for various data object types to ensure data quality.

  • Participate in requirements gathering to design workflows and ensure stakeholder needs are captured.

  • Analyze, document and troubleshoot issues (workflow, object types, data, access related) in Documentum.

  • Understand and implement processes to meet Export Control, proprietary data and other sensitive data requirements.

  • Collaborate with data owners to evaluate their data structure for integrity, accuracy and security.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage document releases and provide document management system training/support.

  • Understand and manage data security requirements and work closely with database architect and system/business administration.

  • Provide databases testing support during upgrades.

  • Provide customer support to users in the daily use of data systems.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook); PC Laptop computers.

  • Excellent communication (both in verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Must be customer focused and have the ability to articulate and patiently instruct others (peers, managers, teammates and customers) in detailed technical processes.

  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills. Be able to prioritize multiple tasks with tight deadlines while coordinating with an internal and external network of affiliated/impacted contractors and civil servants.

  • Demonstrated ability to coherently compose and respond to email, and to create and edit instruction documents when needed.


  • BS Degree with five (5) years of experience supporting Data Management or Associates Degree with seven (7 ) years of experience supporting Data Management.

  • Experience with SharePoint, Documentum, Wiki, and Windchill software applications.

Essential Requirements

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
