Customer Liaison –

  • This person will be responsible for conducting SAP training sessions for city employees.

  • Work directly with customers, learn what they do and how they do it, train them, support them, and help in their operations by providing them training needed to run their operations .

  • Assist in the process of keeping all training material current with the newest releases

  • Liaising with the customer department to manage SAP Training materials, training calendar for the year, act as a change agent across organization

  • Work closely with SAP Security, functional and other team members to coordinate schedules as well as training materials, create online training for new and existing modules

  • Manage and improve ERP SharePoint Site for the team

  • Use of technology tools to improve ERP customer interactions

  • Driving to Multiple Locations

  • Create reports from City's service management tool

  • Ability to load/stage data in a training environment and build exercise guides

  • Experience creating/updating Business Processes & Procedures (BPPs) in Ancile/uPerform

Course Administration –

  • Lead implementation of SAP Training software upgrades and changes.

  • Administration of other training tools as required.

  • Conducting needs assessments and strategic learning assessments

  • Defining instructional, learning, or performance objectives, collaborating with

    stakeholders at all levels when necessary

  • Producing training materials, certification needs and documentation based on needs assessments to be deployed across the City

  • Facilitating meetings, delivering classroom and online/web instruction, providing consultation with customers on an as-needed basis

  • Identifying audiences, messages, timing, and methods of effective communication related to

    course rollout and project deployment

  • Managing training and instructional design aspects of deployment of projects and


    Training Projects –

  • Build and deploy the training curriculum for SAP including: defining the training strategy, developing the training delivery strategy, and providing leadership for the conception, design, development, deployment and maintenance of SAP training solutions and material.

  • Responsible for successful train-the-trainer, end user training, and training material creation, updating, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Lead implementation of RWD/uPerform in developing, delivering and updating training materials.

  • Manage and participate in curriculum development, training program design, training materials development, delivery with the consulting team, and support of the certification process.

  • Perform special training related project duties as assigned.

  • Assist in development and provide ongoing maintenance of ILT (instructor led training) content. ILT materials will include but are not limited to PowerPoint presentations, Work Instructions and Exercises (using BPPS and Simulations in RWD/uPerform), Quick Reference Guides (QRGs).

  • Manage the effort for set-up and delivery of SAP training to Business Process Procedure (BPP) Authors.

Course schedules –

  • Ensure yearly schedules are prepared and reviewed on a regular basis to include additional training sessions


This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment. There may be sources of discomfort, i.e., outdoor installations, hot/cold temperature and humid/wet conditions. Hands-on environment. May have on-call responsibilities and rotating shifts.



Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field. Application-specific technical certifications may be considered for substitution for 1 year of experience.


At least three (3) years of technology experience creating or configuring software applications. Related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.


A valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).


  • Experience with creation of online training using uPerform or the latest SAP Training tool

  • In depth knowledge of training trends in the industry

  • Experience working at SAP Center of Excellence as a Change Agent

  • Experience with SAP online training creation using the latest technology such as Camtasia and/or other web training tools

  • Experience with SharePoint Administration of site.

  • Experience in creation of reports from Service Now

  • Experience with analytics around customer training needs and customer satisfaction

  • Knowledge of the latest SAP technology trends

  • Excellent presentation, communication and correspondence skills

  • Excellent documentation skills

  • Effective teamwork and mentorship

  • Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager

  • Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager
