Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Systems and Integration Engineer on the Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

The MAPI contract provides program support related to strategic and tactical planning, engineering analysis, manifest development and hardware certification, safety and mission assurance, risk management, information technology, payload integration, program science and research. This includes support of mission and program integration and necessary infrastructure operations functions for the International Space Station (ISS).

MAPI also provides support to NASA’s Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) program. We deliver products and professional services to the Program Planning and Control Office, systems engineering and integration services to the Vehicle Integration Office and Crew and Service Module Office, and to the test and verification activities for multiple Orion Offices for the design of NASA’s Orion Exploration Vehicle.

Primary job responsibilities include engineering and integration activities in support of International Space Station (ISS) mission analysis and integration across multiple disciplines in Mission Planning and Operations and Visiting Vehicle Integration and Manifesting. The goal of this role is to introduce the successful candidate to multiple integration areas in the Mission Analysis and Integration team to allow for cross-team integration.

Specific tasking may include, but is not limited to projects in the following areas:

  • Support to ISS boards and panels, ISS Increment systems and payload planning and execution, cargo manifesting, resource and requirement management, and strategic through execute level research planning.

  • Support data analysis, integration and presentation, problem resolution, strategic and programmatic assessments, process improvements and continued innovation, tool development, project management, and systems and project engineering.

  • Provide technical writing support to the ISS Mission Evaluation Room (MER) Failure Investigation Team meetings and Anomaly Resolution Team meetings.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree or anticipate graduation by December 2017 from an accredited college or university.

  • Must have previous MAPI internship experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

  • Project or other leadership experience (in school, extracurricular, or internship), innovation or process improvement skills, ability to demonstrate technical understanding of complex situations and communicate to appropriate audience.

  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.


  • Computer programming (Visual Basic, C+, C++, Python, Java) is a plus.

    Essential Requirements:

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
