Under the direction of the CVP of Payer Contracting and Alignment and in conjunction with Division/Market Leadership/CEO, and the SVP of Physician and Provider Relations, the Division VP of Physician Strategy & Alignment is responsible for facilitating the alignment of managed care initiatives within the physician community, in collaboration with PCA leadership. The leader will communicate the strategic vision, influence, and align with group and division leadership and the PPR leadership, to effectively align physician understanding and participation with PCA managed care initiatives. Initial focus will be given to the North Texas Division markets.

Health Plans are creating business models with Physician Organizations by creating a new set of economic incentives. The resulting changes in physician behavior may impact local hospital markets; redistributing market share through changes in the physician care process and referral patterns. Capitation, narrow networks, steerage, tiering and new products can all be expected to result from these models. Knowledge, understanding, and alignment strategies will be needed with these organizations as they have potential volume disruptions/growth. The VP of Physician Alignment and Strategy is responsible for strategy development and execution of alignment strategies with physician organizations in the assigned markets. The position serves as a key strategical change agent for division-wide initiatives, recommending methods for managing changes, communicating, and minimizing negative impact to Physicians, facilities and other areas impacted by change.

In conjunction with Corporate Leadership, Division/Market Leadership, this position is charged with the following responsibilities for PCA projects and initiatives, which include (but are not limited to): * Serves as primary point of P&PR contact and leader for the PCA operations, including strategic partnerships/affiliations * Coordinates and collaborates with other departments, including Division Leadership, in establishing and carrying out responsibilities * Identifies trends and innovative measures that can be leveraged to drive results * Maintains compliance with legal and ethics and compliance standards * Strategically resolving problems within our internal processes to better address the needs of all customers In conjunction with PCA VPs/Directors, this position is charged with the following responsibilities, which include (but are not limited to): * Assists with the development of local PCA strategic plans * Identifies physician engagement needs and promotes physician involvement at multiple levels * Provides recommendations regarding marketing plans, promotional strategies and strategic partnerships/affiliations * Creating affinity with physician organizations and emerge as the relationship leader to those groups * Development of a three year Physician Organization Alignment plan for markets to present to division leadership for input, approval and support * Establish an inventory of HCA tools, resources and capabilities. Coordinate closely with IT and other HCA alignment executives in other HCA markets * Interact with division CEO, development and strategy team, sales team, PCA, EBS, PSG, Service Line Leaders and others on alignment with physician organizations * Remain connected and informed about impending alignment activity, operational changes and new contracts with existing physician organization in market * Development and maintenance of inventory of all physician organization in the market including but not limited to: IPAs, ACOs, MSOs, CINs and large medical groups * Creation of market heat maps on physician alignment, including an inventory of all physician organization, their ownership structure, health system alignment, carrier contracts and current enrollment * Development of leadership level reporting on physician alignment activity and opportunities * Ability to meet with physician leadership, hospital and division leadership and health plans as needed * Exploring alignment opportunities with physician organization around case management (discharge planning), Meditech access, Hospitalist coverage, insurance contract access, urgent care and specialist collaboration, transfer centers, navigation programs, bundling, IT, * Provide current market information to leadership that will assist in assessing strengths, weaknesses, and competitive threats * Financial reporting on volume and revenue around alignment * Develop and maintain a collaborative, problem solving, professional relationships with the executive level healthcare representatives and physicians in health care systems Skills Required * Must have a proven track record of success in creating and executing operational and clinical growth strategies for multiple entities * Participative management style and an ability to work in a matrix environment * Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including but not limited to Corporate/Division leadership, transfer leadership, staff from information technology and clinical backgrounds, physicians, and external vendors * Must be independent, driven, self-motivated, and passionate with an exceptional work ethic, executive presence, integrity and presentation skills, both oral and written * Demonstrated leadership competency in customer needs and expectations, human resource management, financial outcomes, strategic vision and execution, marketing initiatives, and continuous improvement skills * Ability to work well under pressure on concurrent, multidisciplinary projects * Excellent attention to detail and creative problem solving abilities * Expert knowledge of various external market forces affecting PCA * Ability to establish credibility and be decisive * High level of strategic acumen, with strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems in a timely basis

  • 10 years required - Prefer 15 years of industry experience
  • Experience in PCA, outreach, EMS, and clinical operations
  • Must have held leadership positions (reflecting increasing levels of responsibility) in roles where developing and influencing a strategic vision and relationship building was a key responsibility
