Inter National Bank Quantitative Analyst - McAllen, TX in McAllen, Texas


Use logical, mathematical, and statistical analysis of data in conjunction with creative problem solving skills to draw conclusions and propose continuous improvements in Financial Intelligence processes. The work will include gathering and analyzing data (such as, transactions, public information, and other quantifiable variables) to assist a multidisciplinary team in crafting effective strategies. The primary goal is to assist this team of subject matter experts to detect and prevent financial crime, money laundering, and terrorist financing.


The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

  1. Exploratory data analysis, including:

a. Data distribution analysis (including analysis of anomalies and clusters)

b. Data quality verification (in conjunction with Information Technology and Information Systems Personnel)

c. Inferential statistics, such as linear regression and multiple linear regression analysis

  1. Creation or adoption of best practices

  2. Creative fact based thinking to drive appropriate change

  3. Determine, document, and implement appropriate sampling techniques

  4. Document and archive analytical processes. Documentation should be of sufficient quality and standalone nature to allow each process to be peer reviewed, replicated, and revised for continuous improvement

  5. Effectively communicate results and propose solutions considering time, presentation method, and audience receiving the information

  6. Predictive data analytics

  7. Provide subject matter expertise to other banking professionals

  8. Result validation and testing

  9. Self-teach necessary or adaptive skills (such as, new programming or software languages)

  10. Statistical modeling

  11. Start, manage, and complete projects with minimal supervision

  12. Use of business intelligence software (currently IBM Cognos)

  13. Use visual presentations of the analysis and results to assist and ease understanding of quantitative analysis techniques for individuals without subject matter expertise in quantitative data analysis

  14. Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of other subject matter experts (such as, financial analyst, business, accounting, and legal)

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline, or equivalent combination of four or more (4+) years education and practical experience

• Experience working with larger data sets (tens of millions of rows of transactional data yearly and increasing)

• Working knowledge of computer programming or software languages

• Knowledge of statistical, mathematical, and data testing methodologies


• Graduate Degree in a quantitative discipline, or equivalent combination six or more (6+) years education and practical experience

• Knowledge of SAS

• Knowledge of SQL

• Knowledge of R

• Knowledge of Python

• Six Sigma Certification
