Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Principal Quality Engineer who would be excited to join a leading top tier global aerospace & defense enterprise as part of the Survivability, Targeting and Sensor Solutions (STS) Quality team and on growing program. Quality Engineer responsible for ensuring a product or service meets the established standards of quality including reliability, usability and performance. This will include supplier support as well as production.

Required Skills and Education

  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

  • Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements (ISO 9001/AS9100)

  • Interpret and implement quality assurance standards

  • Evaluate adequacy of quality assurance standards

  • Able to read and comprehend drawings, specifications and contract requirements.

  • Strong Collaborative skills both within and external to the Quality Function

  • Drive successful completion of Root Cause and Corrective Actions

  • Plan, conduct and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality

  • Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues

  • Collect, compile and analyze statistical quality data to track trends and provide early warning and identify areas for improvement in the quality system

  • Prepare concise professional reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities

  • Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions

  • Monitor risk management activities

  • Develop program quality plans

  • Able to resolve challenging problems in a cross functional team environment

  • Ability to effectively teach/communicate quality principles and program requirements to non-quality personnel

  • Self-motivated and able to manage daily priorities with minimal oversight and direction

  • Experience in a relatively high volume manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Green Belt/Black Belt Certified

  • Experience with AS9100 PPV/FAIs and AS9145/PPAP

  • Experience with a Quality Improvement Program (Zero Defect, Lean Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, etc..)

  • Devise sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data

  • Perform and Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities

  • Coordinate and support on-site audits conducted by external providers

  • Proficient in working with document management systems (Example: TipQA)

  • Process and assembly instructions development

  • Experience using TipQA or other Quality Database

  • Ability to create and manipulate Pivot tables and analyze data

  • Hands on experience with AS9145/APQP/PPAP execution

  • Secret Clearance
