The Drilling & Completions Decision Support Center (D&C DSC) is a centralized remote operations center located in Houston, Texas. The center is responsible for remotely supporting Chevron's worldwide drilling operations using real-time data and plays a critical enterprise role in collaborating with Business Units to prevent serious well control events. The D&C DSC also provides performance support to operations including factory and unconventional drilling and completion locations. Delivery of these process safety and performance services puts the D&C DSC at the center of Chevron’s digital Transformation initiatives. It is a fast-paced environment requiring working to ensure safe and efficient operations through engineering detail, technological innovation, and Human Performance. In the process safety space, this requires ensuring that drilling and completion operations are executed within the basis of design, updating and running engineering models, comparing actual data to expected results and making data-driven decisions and recommendations. Performance optimization support requires development and interpretation of tools utilizing real-time key performance indicators, drilling & completions data analytics, and custom engineering analysis applications.

To support the on-going initiatives and growth projects, the D&C DSC is creating a role responsible for developing new tools and workflows utilizing real-time data to provide smart process safety and performance alarm development, drilling performance data analytics, and remote frac execution support. The position will be required to engaging key stakeholders and gain support to develop and implement new workflows in the business units. The individual will work closely with the DSC real-time data solutions as well as D&C Subject Matter Experts in the DSC, Business Units, and with the Chevron Information Technology Company (ITC). Solution development will require working with vendors to design functional and technical software specifications along with necessary real-time data requirements. The successful candidate should have drilling experience, an understanding of real-time data systems, equipment sensors, rig and enterprise data architecture, and D&C rig/frac site workflows. Experience in the development of process monitoring algorithms, application of big data analytics, integration of disparate systems of record, and/or machine learning implementation is a significant plus. Ability to adapt to changing business requirements and anticipate customer requirements is a must.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Developing and deploying tools, technologies and workflows to generate actionable information to drive-data driven decisions at the rigsite level including smart alarms and drilling advisory software

• Development and deployment of real-time frac operation monitoring systems, alarms, and performance tools

• Support of existing and new alarms, including alarms tuning, RCAs, change management, documentation, training

• Partnering with stakeholders in D&C DSC, BU D&C, and ITC to develop new workflows, in alignment with the existing real-time data solutions

• Defining real-time data architecture and workflows to enable new DSC services

• Project management, including oversight of application and solution development by business partners

• Identification of opportunities to create value from data streams generated by drilling and completions operations across all upstream functions

• Maintaining awareness of industry developments and identification of technologies and solutions that can be transferred into rapid value adds

• Identifying and creating materials that need to be built for successful solution delivery and training (e.g., workflows, training materials, etc.)

• Understanding and ability to implement and validate information risk management requirements in alignment with Chevron Standards and Controls

• Facilitate/Lead meetings and workshops

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

5 years’ experience in real-time D&C data analysis, business analysis, workflow development, and

documentation

Prior D&C field experience

Fluent in D&C business processes, data and workflows including expertise in drilling optimization concepts and processes

Knowledge of the WITSML structure, data architecture, aggregation, storage, transmission, and data retrieval and impact to workflow delivery

Demonstrated experience in D&C data analysis and mining. Strong understanding of rig sensors, data architecture, aggregation, storage, transmission, retrieval required for development of new technology and applications. Must have experience with integration of real-time data, specifically WITS and WITSML.

Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple efforts at once

Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize, negotiate, and execute

Demonstrated ability to engage key stakeholders across departments, divisions, functions and cultures and gain support by making a compelling case for change initiatives

Must be able to apply project management methodology, tools and principles with high level of rigor.

Ability to manage time effectively, balancing multiple efforts at once.

Preferred:

10 years’ experience in real-time D&C data analysis, business analysis, workflow development, and documentation

Prior D&C field experience, specifically related to rig sensor installation, management and onsite data aggregation

Experience supporting a wide range of drilling & completions environments (unconventionals, deepwater, remote international, etc)
